1956 SUEZ Crisis: United kingdom
With America and Britain not following through with financing Egypt’s Aswan High dam project, tensions have been increasing between the nations. President Nasser had responded to the crisis by announcing the nationalization of the formerly British-French owned Suez Canal enterprise, which holds great international importance because it provides a more direct route for shipping between Europe and Asia. With growing USSR-Egypt relations and the shared bad blood toward the former ally powers, this has become breeding grounds for trouble. With the vast oil reserves and potential for big bucks which can return a severely economically constrained England back to its original international superpower status, delegates must keep in mind that Egypt is vital in developing the strong British presence in the Middle East. This committee brings together the most decorated war veterans, the most established politicians, presidents, prime ministers, and friends and enemies of the Cold War to compete in this political and military gamble of stealthy, and cunning operations, political treachery, and a profusion of greed.
